CHARACTER NAME: Souji Seta
SERIES: Persona 4 (game)
CANON POINT: True Ending
AGE: 18
APPEARANCE: Not actually this cool

PREVIOUS GAME HISTORY: N/A

PERSONALITY: Souji is a practical person, more so than most would expect a boy his age to be. As a child his parents and their jobs saw him constantly moving from place to place. While most children his age would have been growing up surrounded by the same people, Souji was constantly falling out of touch with old friends and forging new bonds with new classmates. It's not a series of events that left him depressed or sullen, but it is one that left him very pragmatic and somewhat withdrawn. Despite the changes that occurred to him after he arrived in Inaba, Souji is still someone that's friendly, but not terribly forward. He'll form many casual friendships with with those around him, relationships that aren't as fulfilling or long-lasting as deeper ones would be, and therefore not strong enough to leave a hollow feeling behind when they fade.

It helps that Souji is easy for many people to like. Well mannered, intelligent, a good cook -- he's a very proper young man without being stiff and humorless and tends to be popular among his peers and classmates. His slightly aloof nature helps, too. He's frequently considered 'cool' for his almost uncanny ability to take strange, surprising, or unexpected experiences in stride. When he, Chie, and Yosuke encountered the Midnight Channel Souji was, internally, flailing around blindly just as much as the other two. Outwardly, though, he maintained a calm, level-head facade and managed to keep the group from running around completely scatter-brained. It applies to real-world and far less dire situations as well. Being forced into a cross dressing contest? Souji takes it in stride. Unbalanced boy-girl ratio on a group date game? Souji will sit on the girl's side, sure. He's not easily embarrassed (though it can happen) and falls naturally into the roll of leader.

More than just being able to deal with them, though, Souji is also very accepting of any oddities he may encounter... eventually. He's not immune to surprise, but once it passes he tends to very quickly settle down and start making sense of things. This includes people -- Chie and Yosuke are hardly what most people would think of as normal, nor is their behavior towards each other, but Souji took them in stride in fairly short order. It helps him get along with the people around him. He showed this trait in the Midnight Channel as well, very quickly falling into the role of the one in charge. Teddie was weird as hell but Souji was quick to get along with him. When there was suddenly a second Yosuke (who then suddenly turned into a strange frog monster) Souji was able to keep his head on straight to fight against and even defeat the creature. Put simply, he's a highly adaptive individual, capable of quickly adjusting to the strange and unusual and falling into a mindset that will allow him to survive dangerous situations.

Thanks to his parents and their constant moving around, Souji was forced to learn how to be self-sufficient and independent. He can cook, take care of himself, be responsible at work, and move across the country mostly by himself. It's also taught him a bit of survival of the fittest-- or at least, survival of the most resourceful. As a result, Souji can and will eat almost anything. There's no saying he'll like it, and his stomach has ragequit on him before... but Souji will try anything. Brown spherical objects that may have once been pears, Nanako's science projects, mushrooms growing out of other things in the fridge, dokudami tea that was actually udon soup (don't ask why he drank the whole thing instead of stopping after one sip), and a variety of other things -- Souji has eaten them all, and never seemed to learn after getting sick from it.

But as much as Souji is a creature of habit, he does break trends, and at times to alarming degrees. Such as with Yosuke -- before him Souji never really got close to anyone. Then Yosuke came along and the two of them began to explore the midnight channel, eventually bringing Chie along with them, and it was through the course of this that it was discovered that Souji doesn't do many things in half-measures, and this includes friendship. It helps that within a very short time of meeting Yosuke that Souji saw his friend's hidden inner thoughts made manifest (forcing Souji to beat the form the thoughts took into submission), and saw Yosuke face and accept the hidden thoughts he'd previously been denying. Because of this, and because of seeing the rest of his friends do that same, Souji has become very close to all of them, considering them excellent friends and putting himself in a position where he's willing to do anything for them. His niece-turned-surrogate little sister, Nanako, is someone that Souji is especially protective of.

Perhaps most importantly, Souji is very mature of his age, and capable of keeping his peers under control. He leads everyone in combat when they're on the field, is a primary factor in deciding when they enter the Midnight Channel, and even decides who stays on the 'front line' in combat. But the most shining example of this is when Souji prevented his group from making the worst mistake of their lives -- forcing Taro Namatame into the Midnight Channel, where he would have died. Souji keeps a clear head more often than his friends, and this allows him to stay on the right path. Even tough Taro had seriously endagered and even, as far as any of them knew at the time, killed Nanako, Souji ket his head on straight and forced the group to press ahead in their search for the truth.

But, finally, it should be noted that just because he's dedicated and serious doesn't mean he's part of the anti-fun squad. Souji can, quite simply, be an incredible derp. Doing magic tricks for Nanako, singing along with the Junes song, and taking epic spit-takes at horrible food are all well within Souji's range of acceptable behavior. He's not at all afraid to goof off around his friends and family members when doing so is appropriate.

ABILITIES: Souji's most significant ability is that he is a Persona user, a person capable of summoning an empowered embodiment of his/her personality. And he's not just any user, either; Souji is one of the few people in his world that possess the Wild Card ability, allowing him to carry and summon multiple Persona (whereas many people can only hold a single Persona at once, albeit one that may change and evolve throughout their life).

Each Persona has several special abilities and each of them takes energy to use, but these abilities can only be used when the respective Persona is Souji's 'active' one -- the one closest to the forefront of his mind. It takes several seconds for him to switch between each Persona and he can only do so about once at minute. Similarly, Souji can only 'carry' eight different Persona with him at once. Though he has access to hundreds, he needs to visit the Velvet Room to switch out which ones he has 'equipped'. Similarly, Souji is not able to summon his Persona outside the Velvet Room.

His primary Persona is Izanagi. Izanagi has a basic lighting based attack, a simple physical strike, and several skills that let him raise and lower defense and power. Izanagi allows Souji to resist lightning-based powers and completely block dark-based powers, but leaves him weak to wind-based powers.

Finally, Souji is capable of wielding swords, golf clubs, bats, bits of wood, and other long, narrow objects used to hit people. Though he's good at blocking he's not really the dueling type and would get his ass handed to him by a seasoned pro. He prefers to simply wail away at his opponents -- not ungraceful in his bludgeoning, but not very subtle about it either.

POSSESSIONS: Souji will have the clothes he's wearing (his school uniform), his phone and wallet, plus a traveling bag that contains a few changes of clothes, a small army of snacks, and his tooth brush and toothpaste.
